HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!HOLIDAYS!

Right, now we've got that out of the way it's time for my semi-regular update on how uni is going. For lack of a better word it's f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c. Today we had an AIESEC OGX meeting with Kelly who is VP OGX at Victoria (AIESEC has been too cool for whole words since 1947), Marie who is VP OGX here at Massey, Me who isn't special enough to be a VP and on the EB, Jayme our EP who is going to India (yay we raised her today!!!), and apologies from Sarah who also isn't special enough to be VP. It was so awesome - I love hanging out with my homies from Vic. So that was cool after our meeting was done we went and had Indian (caus you know - I've been craving it since like last week) and we were just shooting the breeze. Seriously - if you're at Auckland, AUT, Waikato, Massey, Victoria, Cantebury or Otago University you should seriously consider joining not matter what degree you're doing. I'm almost sad the summer is coming - mainly cause I'm doing Chemistry in Living Systems over the summer extramurally. So you know - I get to set stuff on fire/blow it up/make alcohol in the shed.

Had my essentails of mammalian biology exam on Wednesday. It could have gone worse but I'm glad I put in all those hours studying but was recovering from a cold on that day so I think that may have impaired my preformance. I know more about cows than I've ever cared to know in my entire life.

Oh yes, hopefully next week I'm going to connect - via my own wireless device (because my computer is so ancient that it doesn't even take DDR2 RAM) - to the university network. Hopefully my (new) USB dongle should arrive tomorrow. Don't even ask about the hoopla I had to go through with the first one I brought. Grr!

not spam I swear!
Friday 24 April 2009 - 1.16am
Holidays are almost over which is both a good and bad thing. I did see Mariken these holidays which is nice, I haven't seen her since October when she abandoned me. I did get 65% for my Biology of Cells exam! I wasn't overly confident I'd get a good mark for that exam but as per normal I'm right in the middle (I think the median mark was 61/100). So on the whole Massey is going rather well! (Maybe because I don't have to do Physics and Chemistry really isn't that hard... but shhh I feel good for a change). Results summary as thus:
bio of animals 68.3%
bio of cells 65%
chemistry 15/25

I found this picture here which is almost as funny as this picture here. Or maybe thats just my sense of humour - I was giggling about the latter for about 10mins after which I was told by certain parental types that I was crazy.

holiday time!
Thursday 16 April 2009 - 12.30am
No that I've got anything to do or anything (read: I'm bored out of my mind already). Anywho - HOLIDAY TIME!

I got 60% for my chemistry exam. I've decided to take a leaf out of Sophies book and write important things down in a notebook and have mum quiz me. I'm getting ready for finals -does the happy dance- not long now before I've got a month of absolutely nothing to do.

Soccer is going well! Training is weds 6-7.30pm at Massey. There is quite a few girls in our team I think maybe 15 or so girls.

results!
Sunday 29 March 2009 - 12.32am
Wow I can forgive Massey now for the network crash on Friday (they lost my essay but luckly I have a hardcopy) and me knowing I have work to do but being unable to do it because of the utter speed in which results from the exam I sat on Weds night. 2 days it took for results to come out. Is that speed or what! My mark?

I got 41/60=68.3% *glows*

Just need to ace the chemistry exam on TUESDAY (ahhhhhh!!) and finish my essay already to hand in that day as well. I also need to write my icebreaker speech for toastmasters. Madonna mia I have a lot of things to do. Oh well Easter holidays will be here soon!

one down, 20 more to go
Thursday 26 March 2009 - 12.56pm
So Biology of Animals exam last night and it was okay. I think I will pass and if I don't I'm going to cry. We only had 1 hour for 60 questions so thats 1 minute for every question. All the wanna-be vets are trying hard out it's actually rather amusing to watch. This isn't a compulsory paper for me so I don't need to try as hard.

Introductory Chemistry makes me want to slit my wrists it's so bloody simple. "He is an atom. Atoms are made of electrons, protons and neutrons. Electrons have a negative charge" etc etc. Dear GOD someone please, kill me now. I wish they'd let me do Chemistry and Living Systems.

14 March 2009
update
Saturday 14 March 2009 - 12.58pm
I went to this sports night last night with PULSE a church youth group. They are pretty nice people although I wasn't even there 10mins before God was brought up. Apparently, the person who had corned me at clubs day was a minister. My answers were No I don't believe in God so the following questions (how important is his plan for your life and something else) are irrelevant. I hope they don't mind me being Buddhist. There was a girl called Liz who was wearing a 2004 Wanganui High School leavers shirt so I asked if she knew Emma Crawford and she asked which one Emma M Crawford and I said yeah that one (Emma had told me previously that there were 2 emma crawfords at her school) and she said yes. So I though that was quite amusing. Even if I haven't seen neither hide nor hair of Emma in 3years.

Mums computer sucks. Not only had adobe PDF reader fucked up and won't let me view PDFs in a browser but they STILL have dial-up making it very difficult to do stuff on mastering biology (it's this neat website that comes with the textbook). I have an exam next week worth like 25% so it would be really helpfull if I could access it. I would go into Massey today but mum has taken the car. I love science but sometimes I wish there were more assignments and less 25% exams.

Yesterday for my communication tutorial we talked about what needed to be submitted for our assignment. It's not only the essay its self, but also an i-map (this documents thought processes whilst writing an assignment. I think it's is a great idea even if it's a little bit more work) and 2 exercises about evaluating source material. For my website I'm going to evaluate www.alz.org (I've actually refrenced this in my assignment) and for my journal I'm going to evaluate the journal of the amercian medical associatiion (I've also referenced a couple of articles from there). I'm trying to aim for an A.

I am feeling very studious today. If herb wasn't asking me to do this, that and the other thing.

assignment the second
Monday 11 August 2008 - 5.59pm
It is never ending!! I've just recieved today my second 103 assignment. It's oral and done it pairs. My half dosn't even like marketing!! We are given a sheet with 8 questions to research so we split it in half. I'm doing:
  1. "Subcultures are often studied to give researchers an insight into consumption practises - why are the useful examples of the role of consumption in consumers lives?"
  2. "Atmospherics are of vital importance in any servicescape. How might atompsheric elements be used to manipulate consumption in the retail setting?"
  3. "Explain why we study perceptions in consumption behaviour and provide examples of how top-down processing is used in marketing?"
  4. "Evaluate the use of demographic segmentation, particulary the limitations compared to psychographic segmentation"
An idea that struck me when reading number 2 was a story that Keely told me about how she went to work one day and decided to have popcorn for dinner so she cooked it and put it underneath the counter till her break. They almost sold all their popcorn that night. She works at a video store by the way, I don't know why they wouldn't do that all the time. It would invoke peoples feelings of cuddling up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn with a good movie. That idea well and truly has been sold to us consumers. Since her boss is in financial doo doo it might help.

However, since I'm not going to be here these holidays (my flight leaves before 10am on Saturday morning and returns after 5pm the following Sunday) it's going to make it very aquward meeting up with my half to discuss the answers. Since my mark partly depends on her she had better do a good job! Lol I don't do team work very well, I'm going to be well annoyed if she dosn't do a good job. We are presenting it the first Monday after the break and our pair is at 2.20pm.

I've a tonne of work to do this break as well. I've got 2 exams to study for, although with economics plussage applies so I could just not turn up. But I want to know how I'm doing. My Accounting exam is the day after my economics exam, great T_T because I need 35%+ in that exam in order to get terms, and thus sit the finance exam. I've also got this assignment to do for marketing. I was thinking about going home to study but it's just too freaking cold but the library is nice and warm and closes at 11pm so I can just make my way to the bus stop and take a bus home.

Management lecture was interesting, the computer froze and so our lecturer called up the tech and then made him apologise to us because the computer was wasting the time that we had paid for. I actually felt sorry for the guy. I would have hated to have worked under this lecturer he sounds like an ass. It was his stupid video that made the computer have a heart attack in the first place.

RESULTS!!!!!!
Saturday 28 June 2008 - 8.00pm
HUBS191 = C-(50%)
CELS191 = C- (54%)
CHEM191 = E (39%) FAIL
PHSI191 = D (44%) FAIL

This is what I've been trying to explain to mum - I'm not studying my ass off only to get a C.

At least failed Science papers arent going to look so bad for a degree in International Business. Sometimes I wonder why the hell I'm here and maybe I should have just joined the Navy like I was going to.

Yeah me = fail at life.

DONT ask
Wednesday 11 June 2008 - 6.33pm
about my chemistry exam. Just lets pretend that it never happend. If I hear chemistry mentioned in the next... oh 100 or so years I'm going to cry. Having 2hrs sleep before hand is not cool but I just can't sleep I can sit in bed at 11pm (normal time for most people to be in bed isn't it?) and be wide awake. I don't know whats wrong with me but it's annoying the shit out of me. If I go to egg land next week so that I can get the money to fix my car then that means 5am mornings again and coming home between 3-6pm and I'm not a happy person when I'm tired. Not at all.

Friggin hate chemistry.

Also I'm going to be taking a look at the proto-college of St Kessog a branch of the society of creative anacronism. Looks fun!

again with the cheese!!
Monday 9 June 2008 - 11.00am
Stupid cheese questions in the exam. At least we weren't asked to name a type used in the process like last year.

2 more exams to go - unforuntely my most least favourite subjects.

Going home to nap (as I didn't get to sleep till 4am. I think I may need to actually be in bed an hour before I need to be asleep by) and then to study for chemistry.

Oh yeah! Having an exam in Quad 4 was no fun! I was almost sitting on top of the person next to me and the lecture theature was that old that the desk was slanted so my papers kept sliding down (most annoying thing ever) and had wells for ink that they used to use. Although I did admire the arcitechture (again spell checker Mr Jevon!!) it looked almost Tudor-like with the banisters but I think it's actually Edwardian or maybe late Victorian.

I'm thinking that I might drive home this summer. Sure my cars warrent is 6 months over due but if I can get some work I can get it looked at and fixed etc and hopefully I can get a part time job this semester and I'll save for the HORRENDOUS amount of money it's going to cost me. But it also means that I could rideshare and split petrol costs with people either going to Christchurch or going as far as Wellington/Palmerston North. Also means I can bring ALL my stuff with me because I wouldn't need to pay rent till the lease runs out or storage fees. Maybe mum can come down with me on the return journy. Nice to also have my own car instead of begging mum/dad to drive theirs.
