Another sad farewell
Friday 15 June 2007 - 3.11pm
|
Still getting used to the idea of ozymandious going away to help his parents build a house, and one of my other good friends, GreenMagi is moving away. /sad Hopefully the going away party's sushi will make the parting easier. my little girl can almost walk around on her own, she likes to hold onto the side of the couch, bed, tables anything she can reach to assist her as she walks around. Her first steps should happen any day now, wife and i eagerly anticipate them. her brother's birthday is this weekend, and it should be quite exciting. i must say i have not gotten as excited about buying someone else a toy before, but the way this Mac from "Cars" toy opens up is quite like Optimus Prime did, back in the day. But shhh! dont spoil the surprise. My sister got married last weekend, and that was quite something. It was a very nice and amusing ceremony, with humerous occurences such as the exit processional music starting up while they were reading their vows, and such. World of Warcraft is just as addicting as ever... it really should come with some sort of warning. Flying Mount and level 70 were supposed to be finish lines, but they just seemed to open up even more delciously addicting content. So many summer blockbusters to see, so little time. Seen: Spider Man 3 PotC: At World's End Need to see: Shrek 3 F4: Rise of the Silver Surfer Harry Potter V Ratatouille More as it happens! ~ ~ maybe

Blargh. Headaches are bad. Year end staff financial work is bad. Year End Billings are bad. Neglecting your webjournal to play World Of Warcraft is bad. Ozymandious leaving town makes me sad.
Ah well, at least i get to go home from work soon.
I have started (at behest and pressuring from various individuals) to use Facebook to share some pics of myself.

Right in the Eye!

Accident Prone: that's me lately it seems.
about two weeks ago there was a report of someone in the building having a client who had the Norwalk virus, so we went on a bit of a hand washing preventitive health scare thing. Hand sanitizers were set up everywhere, even in the bathrooms for after washing your hands. Normally a good thing right? Apparently not if you cup your hand a little too close to the nozzle and the entire squirt ricochets off your hand and squirts INTO YOUR LEFT EYE! OWOWOWOWOWWW!
After an hour of flushing my eye out before proceeding to the waiting room for another 3 hour wait before a doctor could see me, they finally gave me some saline solution drip to flush it out with, and some sort of disenfectant. they also proceeded to take the pH of my eye by applying a piece of litmus paper directly to my eyeball! Apparently the reason they let me wait so long was because something like hand sanitizer being in your eye isn't as bad as other similar eye injuries involving drain cleaner fluid. Still, almost a week later to the day, my left eye is still irritated and sore and cloudy and gets goop on it from tear duct crap, although the eye exam at the hospital showed no cornea damage.
The addictive qualities of Burning Crusade continue on, my wife is now Lvl 31 with her character and has set up a guild called "Diablo Slayers". At this point, i think trying to make a new character to catch up to her when we get her her own account is going to be nigh imposssible so i plan to move my 54 Tauren Shaman over to her to be a hunting partner. So im concentrating more on my Dranaei Shaman (who is 30 now) and my BE Paladin (who is now 27) on the PVP server with Argatoth and Virul.
Ozymandious is hosting another birthday party of epic proportions of planning and fun, much like the one he did a couple of years ago. This one has a pirate theme and my wife has gone a bit overboard with her costume. She has made an elaborate paper machet mask and is going as Captain Davey Jones from Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest. I am going as one of her cursed crew, Deckmate "Swabby" O'Houlahan, who has been cursed with a shark for a hand. More on that after satuday.

Carbon Monoxide, No Heat in office, & the Burning Crusade
Thursday 18 January 2007 - 4.07pm
|
Well, last week was a complete write-off, work-wise. YOu have to wonder when two of the 3 mornings you try to go into work have a firetruck sitting outside your place of work, if its even worthwhile bothering to come in the next day. We have had carbon monoxide detectors installed seeing as how the entire place smelled horrible and they were beeping like crazy and giving off horrible reaidngs and the building had to be evacuated. To add insult to injury, our heating system has given out, and for 3 days last week and two this week, it's been too cold to work at our desks. They brought in space heaters the 2nd day, but they in turn, blew out the circuits and electricity and many people (myself included) lost what they were working on, on their computers. Many billings did not happen on time, which was very frustrating to someone as meticulous as myself.
In other news, my beautiful wife Darcie has taken to playing World Of Warcraft a little bit now that she has finished reading the Harry Potter series( and the Hobbit, and has started on the LotR), primarily because of the fact that she wanted to play on the "Bad Guys" team but she doesn't like Orcs Trolls or Tauren, and only barely tolerates the undead, but with the advent of the Pretty Blood Elves being playable, she's gotten her Rogue up to Lvl 10 on Windrunner. I am hoping to get to play at the same time as her, but that may hinge on whether Misao and/or Ozymandious can come up with a spare graphics card they aren't using, as Darcie's computer only uses onboard video controller.
Dylan and Taeya are both growing so much. It's hard to believe that Taeya will be 1 year in April, although looking at her you'd think she was much older. Dylan is very precocious and rambunctious and seems to know alot of my friends by name when they come over to play Settlers.
Speaking of Settlers, i finally won my 2nd game of Cities and Knights. Unlike my first game where my opponents were Darcie and the fearsome Ozymandious, this time my opponents were Darcie and the legendary GreenMagi. For my next trick i hope to defeat Sab, and am working on getting him to come over to play with us.
On the Dance Pad front, Zenith27" has stepped up to bat. He is going to take the pesky thing to his work where he has access to a machine shop and electronic working shop, and will see if he can solve the mystery of the loose wiring that is preventing the down arrow from working. He says it may not be as pretty when i get it back, but at this point, it's only a very large heavy paperweight anyways collecting dust in the closet, so i have nothing to lose. As long as i can use it, that's my reasoning.
In other news, we are abandonning Telus after many loyal years of them treating us customers like {Expletives Deleted}. Now that Shaw can handle our phone services, we are switching.
On the health front i have been mostly well, though recently (and i think because of the cool temperatures and lack of heat in my office the days i tried to go in and work) i seem to have caught a small cold, with cough and sore throat. Nim Jon seemed to help me fight it off for the first couple days, but now it seems to have given up, and allowed me to get sick.
Well, that is more than i thought i was going to write, so i guess that's enough for now. More pictures of babies to come soon.
PS iPod batteries dont seem to last very long with constant drainage and recharging.

To those that want another picture
Wednesday 20 December 2006 - 3.37pm

This one isn't totally recent, but it's a good picture of her smiling, which is tricky cause she isn't too keen on the camera. It was taken in mid November, and doesn't show off her two middle lower teeth, but she still looks remarkably similar to that
Soon is the christmas crunch. My parents are coming over to stay with us from the island over christmas so it will soon be much more crowded at my house. People ask me "What do you usually do for christmas?" well i used to go to my parents place and celebrate christmas with them, but now that i am married and have a family of my own, i convince them to come out to me instead.
Physio is going very slowly on fixing my vertibrae injury from the 2 car accidents i was in. It started out with a numbness, and a soreness not unlike when you work out, but now my lower left back feels tingley occasionally, and it hurts when i move my arms only certain ways. It also hurts when the physiotherapist pushes down on my spine in the place it's affected. He also does ultrasonic deep tissue massage on my spine, and i spend about 15 minutes on the traction machine every trip. He also recomends i go out and get some exercise at least once a week, which is something i've really neglected over this past year. So far since he's advised that i have gotten to go out once and do 30 laps at the pool, but since then they've closed the pool down for the holidays.
Still play alot of Settlers/Seafarers/Cities&Knights of Catan with "The Players!" which includes my wife, GreenMagi, Ozymandius, ISimplyExist, Misao now my in-laws! I've been thinking of maintaining a standing with #games played, Win:Loss Ratios, average Score/Winning Score Values, and such... but as i know im at the bottom of such a list, the incentive isn't quite there :) i think a good ranking right now would probably be (on the double weighted system)
1) Jason
2) Darcie
3) Mark
4) Trevor
5) Diana
6) Paul
7) Rob
8) Remy
gah, that's depressing >.<
Anywho, Happy Holidays, and more to come as it happens. People have been bugging me to write more, so i'll get on that.
P.S. My $400 Dance Pad broke. The down arrow wiring is fuXX0red. I don't know what im going to do :(

Baby Taeya has sprouted two little chompers from her lower gum, the two central incisors. With her razor sharp claws (that seem to grow back everyday despite cutting them back) and now her ferocious bite, she is very dangerous! at almst 8 months, she is a little over 2'2" tall. She is also testing out the language barrier and said something that sounded like "Hi Da Da!" last night, interspersed with baby babbling.
pics of baby are at

but there is nothing new or recent there... hope to remedy that soon.

Best Birthday Ever!
Thursday 17 August 2006 - 1.51pm
|
I am now 30 years old, huzzah! And it was the best birthday evening ever. To start off, Antiopa and Cuddles met up with me at work, and i drove them back to my house where we had dairy queen ice cream cake. I met up with my wife and sister there, and we headed out to Shabusen Sushi .
When we got there, Ozymandious, Saburo-kun, Bonerack and Misao were already there discussing the intricacies of Warhammer 40,000. A little later, Greenmagi Geofram showed up, and shortly after that, the Amazing Rando arrived. The last people to arrive were my friend PG, who i have known since i was born, and his girlfriend, who i just met last night MUCH unagimaki, dynamite rolls , Spicey Tuna Sashimi, Salmon Sashimi, Gyoza, Gomae, spicey Tofu, and Korean BBQ Chicken, Beef, Spicey Pork + Mutton were consumed... a grand feast for certain.
Then at the end of the meal, Greenmagi Geofram returned with a cake he had made at work, and there was more singing.
after the meal, Sab, Misao, Ozymandious, Bonerack and Greenmagi came back to my house to play some Cities and Knights: Settlers of Catan 6player. I lost horribley due to unluck with the dice, but it was still grand fun. It was played til about 1:30 in the morning, then i spent some time alone with my wife while the kids were asleep, talking and reflecting on what a perfect birthday it was
...
i should turn 30 more often!

Fire Drill!
Tuesday 18 July 2006 - 10.42am
|
What an bad way to wake up while sleeping on a satuday afternoon
at 12:30pm, this past saturday, the guy upstairs above us and across the hall, left his elements on and left the building. We were woken up by the sounds of his door being broken down, then shortly afterwards by the fire alarm. 3 Trucks and the Command Unit showed up to investigate. It's the first time i've had to go wake someone else up and say "Fire Alarm! Wake up while i grab the kids!" And that was pretty neat.
Thursday Darcie and i saw Cirque'du Soleil, Varekai. It was a pretty amazing display of acrobatics, some clown-like entertainers, contortionists, singers, dancers, jugglers, and even little kids that were masters with linked bowls. I can see why they have maintained a reputation as a world class circus.
After that, GreenMagi and Ozymandius showed up wanting to play Settlers- Cities and Knights of Catan. It's been such a long time since i've played, and i had only played cities/knights once before... I must admit i liked it so much i ran out and bought my own copy of regular settlers on sunday.
My mother-in-Law's dog passed away a few weeks ago, and it hit her and Darcie pretty hard, as Darcie grew up with that dog. However, on sunday, there was a new puppy there. It is part pekingese, shitzu and poodle. We spent most of sunday playing with the new puppy and trying to help her mom devise a name, when we last checked in it was a tossup between Boogie or Sir Winston. My suggestions were along the lines of Tiberius or Sebastion. Why does no one ever like my name suggestions?
