Childish? Yes...but that's kinda the whole point.
We all need a little stress-reliever and this only takes a minute. Sometimes when you have a stressful day or week, you need some silliness to break up the day. If we are honest, we have a lot more stressful days than not. Here is your dose of humor.... A. Follow the instructions to find your new name. B. Once you have your new name, put it in the subject box and forward it to friends and family & co-workers. And don't go all adult about it! The following is excerpted from a children's book, Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names... So:- 1. Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name: a = snickle b = doombah c = goober d = cheesey e = crusty f = greasy g = dumbo h = farcus i = dorky j = doofus k = funky l = boobie m = sleezy n = sloopy o = fluffy p = stinky q = slimy r = dorfus s = snooty t = tootsie u = dipsy v = sneezy w = liver x = skippy y = dinky z = zippy 2. Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name: a = dippin b = feather c = batty d = burger e = chicken f = barffy g = lizard h = waffle i = farkle j = monkey k = flippin l = fricken m = bubble n = rhino o = potty p = hamster q = buckle r = gizzard s = lickin t = snickle u = chuckle v = pickle w = hubble x = dingle y = gorilla z = girdl e 3. Use the third letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name: a = butt b = boob c = face d = nose e = hump f = breath g = pants h = shorts i = lips j = honker k = head l = tush m = chunks n = dunkin o = brains p = biscuits q = toes r = doodle s = fanny t = sniffer u = sprinkles v = frack w = squirt x = humperdinck y = hiney z = juice Thus, for example, George W. Bush's new name is: Fluffy Chucklefanny. (So appropriate!) And remember that children laugh an average of 146 times a day; adults laugh an average of 4 times a day. “Put more laughter in your day!”
So, go on, tell us your name. It's fun!

I was walking home this afternoon when I was stopped and asked if I would consider being a hair model for some hair dressing students at the Waikato School of Hairdressing.
Apparently my hair is the perfect type, length and cut for the students to practise hair ups on.
And in return for an hour of my time this Thursday, I will get a free shampoo and treatment, blowdry and straighten afterwards
So although I don't actually have time, I am going to make time because a) I have really appreciated it when strangers have helped me out this year with my course and b) hullo?? Free pampering!!!
It's just a shame my friend Karla who was with me didn't have the requiste hair they were after, would have been so much fun to do it with a pal.
In other news, I will be so pissy if the world ends tomorrow (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/the-large-hadron-collider-end-of-the-world-or-gods-own-particle-921540.html) and I have spent my last few days on earth stressing out about assessments. But that's okay, cos we can watch it as it happens live on the net. Bloody scientists.
Okay, break from assignments over...back to it...if my squiffy tum and eye twitch will let me...must keep repeating this week's mantra courtesy of Dory from Finding Nemo...

What does your musical taste say about you?
Friday 5 September 2008 - 9.08pm
|
Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.
The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot-Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken.
Professor North described the research as "significant" and "surprising".
"We have always suspected a link between music taste and personality. This is the first time that we've been able to look at it in real detail. No-one has ever done this on this scale before."
Prof North said the research could have many uses in marketing, adding: "If you know a person's music preference you can tell what kind of person they are, who to sell to.
"There are obvious implications for the music industry who are are worried about declining CD sales.
"One of the most surprising things is the similarities between fans of classical music and heavy metal. They're both creative and at ease but not outgoing.
"The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and of being a danger to themselves and society in general. But they are quite delicate things."
More than 36,000 people from all over the world were asked to rate 104 musical styles and also questioned about aspects of their personality.
The study is continuing and Prof North, who is head of the university's department of applied psychology, is still looking for participants to take part in a short online questionnaire.
Here's the findings:
BLUES High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle and at ease
JAZZ High self-esteem, creative, outgoing and at ease
CLASSICAL MUSIC High self-esteem, creative, introvert and at ease
RAP High self-esteem, outgoing
OPERA High self-esteem, creative, gentle
COUNTRY AND WESTERN Hardworking, outgoing
REGGAE High self-esteem, creative, not hardworking, outgoing, gentle and at ease
DANCE Creative, outgoing, not gentle
INDIE Low self-esteem, creative, not hard working, not gentle

ROCK/HEAVY METAL Low self-esteem, creative, not hard-working, not outgoing, gentle, at ease
CHART POP High self-esteem, not creative, hardworking, outgoing, gentle, not at ease
SOUL High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle, at ease
So what is your fav type of music and do you think it's accurate for you?
Music: Chart Pop - and yup I'd say that's accurate!

"pillow angels????"
Monday 1 September 2008 - 11.22pm
|
I stumbled upon the story of Ashley X randomly this evening and have been surfing all round the net for more information.
I am so sickened by this.
What do you think?
Ashley the pillow angel: love or madness?
Even the doctors who sanctioned it agree. Putting a severely disabled nine-year-old girl through radical surgery then pumping her full of hormones so she will never grow up seems horrific.
But they've done it. At the request of her parents, little Ashley X has undergone a full hysterectomy, had her tiny breast buds removed, and is being dosed daily with oestrogen to ensure she will never grow taller than her current 4ft 5ins or weigh more than her present 75lbs.

10 quick music questions
Monday 1 September 2008 - 9.33pm
|
Stolen from http://bloggingcafechick.blogspot.com
1. What was the most recent album you bought? Is it any good? I bought *ahem* The Cistercian Monks Of Stift Heilgenkreuz – Chant Music for Paradise after watching a Campbell Live (still in with you John!) piece about their amazing journey to get a record deal and their album debuting at #7 on the British charts. Very uplifting and powerful music – even for this self confessed heretic
2. What is the last music bio that you read? And would you recommend it? I love biographies, and read them voraciously … but it would appear not about musicians. In fact, the only muso biography I can see on my book shelf is “Something So Strong” by Chris Bourke about my beloved Crowded House…which I got in 1998!!!
3. You have one song to impress the crowd on Singstar. Assuming you can pick any relatively famous song to wow the audience, what would it be? Ooooo I loves Singstar!!! Mine would be “Material Girl” by Madonna – feel good 80s pop classic that I can belt out with the best of them (in fact, it has won me many a Singstar challenge in its time)
4. Name one artist that you heard several people rave about/recommend; you gave it a go and just didn’t get the hype at all?
Like bloggingcafechick - Coldplay
And then taking a stroll through the current “NZ Top 40” lets add Rhianna, Pink, The Pussycat Whores, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Miley Cyris *shudder* Nelly, Usher, T-Pain, Lil Wayne,
5. Name one artist that you were very late in discovering – but you really are pleased you gave a go/found out about. The kings of swing – Frank Sinartra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior. I discovered the Rat Pack, along with a lot of my generation, when the Ocean’s Eleven remade movie was released. I was at University and fell in love with their music, their banter and their style. I had huge posters on my wall and listened to them on repeat for weeks at a time, even nudging aside my darling Crowdies. I think this in turn opened me up to swooning for Mr Michael-sex-on-a-stick-Buble.
6. You can invite five people around for one of those fantasy dinners. They all have to be musicians (dead or alive). Who do you choose? Neil Finn, Noel Gallagher, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and the last place is a toss up between Michael Stipe from REM or Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil.
7. What is your favourite TV theme from the past? And your favourite current one? OMG! I can spend hours getting all nostalgic at http://www.televisiontunes.com/ and because you can download the theme songs for free, I have taken full advantage. As for picking favs…I am currently in love with all things ALF. Some themes bring back such strong memories particularly, MacGyver (who everyone loves) and the Flying Doctors. I remember MacGyver used to be on Sunday nights after Our World and I would be allowed to watch it but in the ad breaks I had to get into my jammas, brush my teeth etc and then the same thing all over again on Monday nights from 7.30pm to 8.30pm when Flying Doctors was on. I used to have a big crush on Dr Geoff Standish.
As for current fav theme tune = Top Gear.
8. What is the one band that has yet to reunite that you would be interested in hearing again? Okay so I know they are back together and recording music but if I had my way, the irrepressible Paul Hester would still be with us and part of the reunited Crowdies. I still cant wait this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD8pMIH1puw without tearing up. We miss ya Paul.
9. You have been given free tickets that you have to use. Only problem (if it is a problem) is you have a choice of seeing Westlife, Celine Dion or Crazy Frog. What do you choose and why? Hehehehehehe! I actually have albums from all three of these artists!!! What does that say about my music collection? I choose Westlife btw because when they stick to what they do best, pop ballads, they do them well. When they try to cover Rat Pack standards however, they fail dismally. No, I will not allow you to be Frank, Westlife – grrr!
10. If you could make one current musician “disappear” – no questions asked – who would it be? Miley Cyris *shudder*
Now, your turn. Feel free to answer one or ten questions, or just let me know what you think of my choices. I’m still fantasying about how fascinating dinner with the guests of #6 would be!

This one is just because I want to have all the latest 10 entries as mine
Also
- Mum did not come to visit this weekend - she came down with the flu on Wednesday and was far too sick to drive 5 hours to see me
 - I found this story http://tinyurl.co.uk/n4q1 and am in equal parts disturbed and intrigued.
- The prospect of having some very exciting news in the near future got a whole lot better on Friday.
- The coffee at the Hamilton gardens cafe is quite possibly the worst I have come across...but paradoxically their neenish tarts are really good!
- Paddy is doing really well on his medication now - back to his old self but minus the stress "need-to-pees" and spraying - hurrah!
- I really feel like a bottle of wine...but have none and no moolah to be a-purchasing.
