Uh...
Arriving home from work this afternoon, I was really in the mood for something sweet but with two more days to go til grocery shop day, the cupboards are looking a little bare of "treat" food. So flicking through my recipe book I found that joyous kiddie treat that requires very little in the way of ingrediants or thought power: Hokey Pokey!

Looking at the recipe and the amount of ingrediants in my saucepan, I decided it must be a recipe for a mouse family (forgetting of course that it is in essence sugar on top of sugar with some baking soda...healthy? I think not) and promptly trippled the measurements.

Ops Confused

I now have a cake tin full of hokey pokey goodness and the tooth fairy firing off emails warning of legal action if I do that to my teeth - I am expecting welcome emails from Weight Watchers any minute now.

Anyone wanna come share?

Sleep and other stuff
Last night was one of those nights when no matter what I did, I just could not sleep. I tossed, I turned, I wriggled, I squirmed. I took the duvet off, I put it back on. I lay on the right half of the bed, I lay on the left half of the bed. Nada. Nup. Zip. Not a wink.

All of which got me to thinking about the beautiful thing that is sleep. I am not ashamed to admit that I love sleep - probably a little more than is normal. Surely there is no finer place to be curled up than in bed?

Conversally, there is nothing more frustrating or grumpyness inducing than a lack of sleep. For instance, while recovering from my seatbelt bruies post car crash, sleep was something very elusive - not just from shocking dreams but from the inability to sleep on my tum, my prefered sleeping position - all of which made me more of a miserable sod than normal. I imagine Miss chrissy chrissy is probably in much the same boat right now (with the lack of sleeping that is!)

So, because I am curious (and also more than a tad bored at work today), I present to you, my sleeping poll!

When darkness falls, and you climb into bed, which way do you prefer to lay your head?

On my back
On my tum
On my left side
On my right side
Doesn't bother me - I just coma out

In other news, my weekend was pretty spectacularly boring! Friday night was a stay home and watch telly night. So was Saturday night too actually, though not from want of trying. It's kinda sad when you turn up for drinks at a friend's house at 9pm to find everybody going home already. We also made a trip to the new Mitre 10 Mega. I hated it with a passion. Big box style multi national conglomerate shopping with staff who do not know the meaning of the concept 'customer service,' and buildings so big you need a map to navigate your way round are so not for me. In fact my 2 favourite stores in PN (Bruce McKenzies book shop & Streets Ahead) are independently owned, wonderful little shops that are a delight to the senses (though a little less delightful to the bank balance!). Almost makes you want to pack up and move to Taihape where even the Warehouse has failed to set up yet.

In all fairness though, the Mitre 10 store may not have been so bad if Saturday had not been one of those days when I was not filled with kindness towards humanity. People just bugged me by their mere existence. If it had not been for my boyfriend’s timely words of caution, I am pretty sure I would have mowed a few people over in the car park but he was right, I probably didn’t want to put dents in my pretty new car and orange jail bait jumpsuits probably wouldn’t be too flattering. Things improved slightly when we moved on to Harvey Norman and we found the most perfect lounge suite. Pity it was $7000 really.

Sunday was another very quiet day. I played guinea pig for Miss krissi krissi, did dreary old housework, made a batch of ANZAC biscuits and cooked dinner for my beloved and I, finishing the day off with lying on his bed with “lappy” (yes, I have nicknamed the laptop) wirelessly surfing the net and bidding on books on TradeMe (my latest addiction on there).

Happy happy, Joy joy!
I just had to write a wee entry and say that currently I am the happiest of campers as I am doing something I have always wanted to do; sitting in bed typing on a laptop connected to wireless internet!!! No cords, no cables - just me and the lappy Amused

Of course it would be a whole lot nicer if:

a) the lap top belonged to me and not to my boyfriend's work (I am sure they won't miss it though should it be rehomed permanently Razz

and

b) it were my bed I was in with my own wireless internet. Alas, it is not but being my boyfriend's flat is the next best thing I guess Mr. Green

The only downside is they are rather hot little things and my legs feel like they are starting to smoulder! Saves on heating though I guess Laugh Out Loud

Tradesmen
We have electrician guys here at work at the moment installing more heaters which is great cos now I won’t freeze quite so much (although of course winter is almost over now) but it is incredibly noisy and dusty! I am currently being showered in fine particles of ceiling stuff as they drill holes directly above me. I think that deserves to be allowed to go home for the afternoon personally Wink That said, one of them is flirting outrageously with me which is loads of fun – he is actually youngish (prob late 20s) and not the usual dirty old man tradesman type Amused

My Lovely Weekend
This was the loveliest, busiest weekend that I have had in such a long time! So much so, it has taken me this long to recover enough to be able to sit upright and type an entry without falling asleep half way through!

Friday was preparation day. Continuing on from Thursday night's beautifying torture, I went to my Mums and had her dye my hair to cover the myriad of greys that pollute my otherwise dark locks. Hair dying isn't torture I imagine for the usual person, but therein lies the problem, I am not normal. My scalp is inflicted with a skin condition called Psoriasis and has lots of raw patches so the dye is like pure acid - I am sure my parents neighbours thought I was being murdered from all the noise I was making! That said, there was no way I was going away for my romantic retreat with grey hair!

I also managed to fit in a spot or two of shopping. I spent my lunch hour browsing the shops and found a gorgeous brown (my fav colour) satin chemise with pale blue flowers over it and pale blue shoe string straps = ever so pretty and just perfect for a hotel room liaison Wink After work I continued shopping, buying some candles for around the spa (Smile) and some summer clothes (including the most to-die-for skirt) for me....now for the summer weather to arrive so I can actually wear it!

Then it was home to pack, kiss my kitty’s goodbye and curl up in my boyfriend's bed ready to be up bright and early for departure...and then we slept in! We arrived in Taupo around 2pm (having nearly died on the way up from the stink of fumes in the recently interior painted borrowed van Oh dear ) to find it freezing cold, pisisting down with rain and generally not conducive to browsing the shops but making the hotel room look very inviting! After trying out the hotel bed Wink we had a very relaxing afternoon - me reading, my beloved surfing the net with the lap top (yay for hotel with free broadband access!) before being invited out to dinner with some of the boy's go-karting friends. We went to quite possibly the flashiest restaurant I have ever set foot in; I was terrified when we arrived that we would get denied entry as I had not brought any fancy clothes with me and just rocked up in sneakers, jeans and jacket - even the waiters were in suits!!! The meal and company were lovely but we did not linger too long after dinner...we had a spa pool to try out!!! Heh

And wow! The spa was great! Half of the bathroom wall could be folded back so that you could see the telly from the spa so that is what we did, just a pity that there wasn't anything terribly exciting on to watch so we had to make our own fun. Razz I did however put slightly too much bubble bath in the tub and when we turned the jets on had somewhat of a bubble fest - was like being a little kid again blowing them at each other!

After turning ourselves into human prunes in the tub, we went out for late night hot chocolate and cake - again we didn’t linger; it was so damn cold and wet...and I had yet to show my boyfriend my lingerie purchase...which he seemed to love though it didn't stay on terribly long Laugh Out Loud

The following morning dawned on a beautiful clear blue, cloud free day not even spoiled by being woken revoltingly early by the alarm. My beloved spoilt me rotten by bringing me my breakfast (savoury muffin, juice and obligatory strong coffee) in bed before he scooted off to the Kart Track. He had kindly made arrangements with one of the other "karting wives" who had travelled up from PN to pick me up at check out time so I could have a lazy morning and miss all the boring pre-race scruitineering stuff. Bless him!

I would just like to interupt a second to say that while the spa was grand, the shower was sent straight from heaven. Perfect pressure, spacious, hot and steamy and basically totally dreamy - well as dreamy as showers go! In fact, if I could I would take the entire bathroom and transplant it to my house. I wouldn't mind taking the entire unit's decor either to be honest; lots of rich mocha browns and creams and greys, very rich and silky.

Anyway, I digress...

The racing itself was awesome! By far the most fun I have had at the track to date. The new track at Taupo is fantastic, loads of corners and fast and smooth surface - my boy set a lap record for his class...and then broke it the very next race! There were over 50 karts in various classes racing which as you would expect lent itself to plenty of pile ups and crashes - one very serious one in which the race was abandoned and several competitors were whisked off to hospital by ambulance. Thankfully my boy made it through the mess unscathed as did our friends racing.

Then after a long day of exciting but exhausting racing, it was time to pack up and head on home. Dinner was a much more subdued affair this time (dirty old BK at Turangi washed down with copious amounts of Black V) as we pootled on home, making it around 9.30pm. After a quick hello to the puss-tats and a shower, I climbed into bed a very content and cosy camper.

There is no doubt I will always remember the first time I stayed in a hotel room with a boy, especially being the boy I love (so much)

More Torture
Well overdue, tonight I am going to go through the pain once again, of having a Brazillian. I thought I might add to the pain and get my eyebrows waxed and eye lashes tinted at the same time so I can hurt top and tail...and be all beautiful for my weekend away in Taupo! My appointment is at a lovely hair saloon/beauty palour in Feilding - a bit of a drive I know but I am still totally loving my car so it's not a hardship at all and the price this place charges are almost half what you pay for the same thing in Palmy. Plus the owner chick Nicky is really lovely!

After that, its a quick race back over to PN for a bite to eat and then am going to see "The Graduate" at Centrepoint tonight - I can't wait to see it though could probably live without seeing Donagh Rees (Shortland Street's Nurse Judy) in the buff!

Chocolate Fix - a poll
Basically I just figured out how to create a poll (yup, I am a slow learner Razz) and thought I would find out what y'all thought of my pointless but currently highly important question! Heh

I have a deep hankering for chocolate but only have baking chocolate chips in my cupboard. Should I...

Indulge! Eat the chocolate chips and worry about the pimple outbreak later
Bake some biscuits and thus I can indulge in chocolate and not feel so guilty
Brave the freezyness (6 degrees and dropping rapidly) and go buy some chocolate from the supermaket

Murphy's Law
I am seriously in need of peeing right now but I have someone due to arrive any second now for a meeting (actually they are 4 minutes late..and counting - time is money people!) and I know the second I leave, they will arrive. So I will sit and jiggle and curse my wretched bladder and the 2 glasses of coke and cup of coffee (mmm Caffeine) I had at lunchtime
Music: Nobody mention waterfalls or rivers

I can't wait!
I fear this week is going to go really slowly. Time always crawls when you have something nice to look foward to on the weekend and I definately have that this weekend; My boyfriend and I are going to Taupo and staying in a hotel!

Now that may not seem terribly exciting for lots of you, but I have never stayed in a hotel with anyone but family before so it will be an exciting and romantic experience (I hope!) and will also mean I can cross off another thing on my "things to do before I die" list Smile

So, while the hotel is not half as sumptious as the one Ms heather heather is currently luxeriating in, I cannot wait! We have a spa in our unit and I have purchased some pretty candles to place round it to make a cosy, chick flick movie atmosphere (I am sure the BF will love that Confused), I am getting my brazilian "maintained" on Thursday after work (the things I do to myself!) and will go shopping for something pretty in the bed wear department tomorrow lunchtime (I am looking forward to that part!).

This is the link:

Of course the downside will be that we will be driving up on the Saturday in my beloved's friends clapped out van (not my pretty new car Sad) that boasts a non-working radio and a temperamental heater and going to bed very early Saturday night, not for "fun stuff" Wink but so we can be up at the "crack of sparrows" to get to the Go-Kart track for a day of racing. I am sure I will enjoy it though...as long as it's not cold!
